Best Hawker Food Tours in Singapore, Compared (2026)

Singapore's hawker culture is on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. It's also the cheapest good food in one of the world's most expensive cities. The catch for first-time visitors is that a hawker centre can feel overwhelming. You're faced with dozens of stalls, queues that tell you nothing, "chope" tissue packets on empty seats, and dish names you've never seen.
A good food tour fixes that in about three hours. You eat a curated spread, learn how to order, and leave knowing exactly where to go back to on your own.
We compared 12 hawker and street-food tours currently listed for Singapore. We looked at price, length, number of tastings, group size, neighbourhoods covered, and who each one suits. Every price below is the per-adult price as shown on the booking page on 22 October 2026. Prices change, so check the live price before you book.

The tours in detail
1. Singapore Stories Food Tour with 12+ Tastings, A Chef's Tour
S$127 · 4 hours · max 8 guests · 4.9★ from 458 reviews
This is the heavyweight of the list. Over five or six stops across Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam, you get 12+ tastings, which the listing says is more than any other Singapore food tour. Groups are capped at 8, and the tour is led by "professional foodie guides". Bottled water is included, alcohol is not. You meet at Maxwell MRT Exit 2.
Good to know: The operator is upfront that this tour is unsuitable for severe allergies, vegetarian, halal and coeliac diets. Pescatarian and no-pork guests get 3–4 fewer tastings.
Best for: First-timers who want one tour that covers Singapore's three main food cultures.

4. Authentic Street Food and Hawker Centre Tour, GrabServices Pte Ltd
S$88 · 3 hours · max 8 · wheelchair accessible · 4.8★ from 23 reviews
Search results list this as "Authentic Food Tour of Bib Gourmand Hawker Stalls". It promises Michelin Bib Gourmand stalls and dishes across Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan cuisines. The guiding point is customisation: spice level, dietary needs and must-try dishes. Guides speak English and Chinese, and you meet at Maxwell MRT. Several recent reviews (Sept–Oct 2026) say the guides adapted the tour for food allergies.
Best for: Anyone with allergies or mobility needs, and small groups who want a personal tour.

7. Chinatown Hawkers Food Tour with 7 Food Tastings, Secret Food Tours
S$111 · 3.5 hours · up to 12 people · 4.9★ from 21 reviews
Secret Food Tours is an international brand, and its menu here is unusually specific: bak kwa, kopi and kaya toast, popiah or oyster cake, chicken rice, prata or thosai, chwee kueh and chendol. A local beer or soft drink is included, and the tour ends with a "secret dish". Hotel pickup and gratuities are not included.
Heads-up: On the day we checked, the meeting-point section of this listing showed a Los Angeles address next to "Chinatown Station". Confirm the meeting point with the operator after booking.
Best for: People who like knowing exactly what they'll eat.

11. Maxwell Food Centre Guided Hawker Food Tour, TianMaZuo (Beijing) International Tourism
From S$47 · 2 hours · new listing, no reviews yet
This is the cheapest paid option. It's a 2-hour guided walk around Maxwell Food Centre covering hawker history, Michelin-recognised stalls, ordering tips and dining etiquette. The "includes" list on the page doesn't mention food tastings, so assume you'll pay for your own food and check with the operator before booking.
Best for: Budget travellers who mostly want an expert to show them how to order.

12. Chinatown Hawker Hop (pay-what-you-wish), via GuruWalk
Tip-based · 2 hrs 45 min · 4.98★ from 44 reviews
Wahida ("Angel") of I Know A Gal SIN Tours leads this walk through Hong Lim and Chinatown Complex hawker centres. Food isn't included; she suggests budgeting S$20–30 in cash for food and a S$30–50 tip if you enjoyed it. It needs at least 5 people to run, and you meet at Paris Baguette in Chinatown Point. We don't earn anything from this one. It's simply a good option.
Best for: Backpackers and anyone who would rather choose their own dishes.
Want to cook it, not just eat it?
If you'd rather go home able to make the food yourself, two well-reviewed cooking classes are also on GetYourGuide:
- Hands-on Cooking Class with Cultural Immersion, Food Playground: S$120, 3 hours, 4.9★ from 125 reviews, at 24A Sago Street, Chinatown. All ingredients are included.
- Market-to-Table Experience and Cooking Class, Let's Go Cook Singapore: S$139, 3 hours, 4.9★ from 24 reviews. It starts with a wet-market tour with a licensed guide and chef.

How to choose the right tour
- Decide on your neighbourhoods. Chinatown-only tours are shorter and cheaper. Tours that cover Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam show you far more of Singapore's mix of cultures.
- Count the tastings, not the hours. Five tastings in three hours is a culture walk. Nine to twelve is a full meal and then some.
- Check dietary fit before you pay. Several tours rely heavily on pork dishes. Halal, vegetarian and coeliac travellers should message the operator first, or choose a tour that advertises customisation.
- Day or night? Night tours are cooler and livelier. Day tours suit families and jet-lagged arrivals.
- Group size matters. Hawker centres are busy and noisy. Groups of 8 or fewer make it much easier to hear the guide and find seats.
- Book early in your trip. A tour on day one teaches you how to order, so you can go back to your favourite stalls on your own for the rest of your stay.
FAQ
Are Singapore food tours worth it? For a first visit, usually yes. You pay a premium over eating on your own, but you learn how to order, what to try and where to go back. If you're on a budget or already know hawker food, the tip-based Hawker Hop or a DIY crawl will be enough.
How much does a hawker food tour cost in Singapore? As of 22 October 2026, paid tours on GetYourGuide ranged from S$47 (a 2-hour Maxwell walk where food doesn't appear to be included) to S$145 (a 4-hour, three-neighbourhood tour with an ex-chef, run by Local Local Tours). Most fall between S$77 and S$127.
Can I cancel? Every GetYourGuide tour above that we checked offered free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and many allowed "reserve now, pay later". Always confirm on the listing.
Which hawker centres do the tours visit? Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown Complex and Hong Lim come up most often for Chinatown tours. Little India tours typically start near Little India MRT.
